Had a birthday get together tonight that Mel put together. A bunch of us met up that I haven't seen in a while,
with job and school responsibilities and such, it's not always easy.
Me and Marshall went down to the lower East side to meet up with Jerry, Mel, David and his wife Melanie and
Pablo and also Elle. It would have been great to have Adam and Nee there, but both were away in Thailand.
We all met at a vert popular Japanese restuarant on somewhere St. between 2nd and 3rd aves. We had saki
with a large variety of really good Japanese dishes, something for everyone. There's usually a wait to get in to
this place because the food is good and it's reasonably priced. A large place with an outside smoking area
within the confinds of the establishment. It's kind of like a courtyard where if one looks up will see two statues,
one with exposed breasts and mask covered genitals.
The other has a mask covered genital area with a very long, and profalic, nose. I guess it means
something to the Japanese?
We finished our meal and I opened a gift that I recieved all the way from Thailand from my friend Anisa; a
fanny pack which always comes in useful for me.
We then made our way around the corner to the "Continental" bar for some spirits. The place had a special
of any 5 shots for 10 bucks, not bad, huh? We all had a few rounds along with some conversation and then
called it a night as the next day was busy for some of us.
All in all a great night which I would hope can be a little more frequesnt for many of us, especially this summer!
Hey, maybe a few picnics in central and prospect parks where because of the diverse cultural backgrounds of our
crowd, we can bring different dishes to the picnic, and of course the children for a good old friend get together!
